INFORMATION MATERIAL IN THE SHELTER FORUM RESOURCE CENTRE
The Resource centre at Shelter Forum secretariat in Nairobi is equipped with various publications and reports on shelter and other related issues, including the Marathon for Shelter campaign, basic needs campaign and urban land rights campaign. The organization is in the process of establishing community resource centres in other parts of the country.
Shelter Forum Resource Centre has both print and non-print media materials in its collection. The print media comprises books, press cuttings, periodicals, research papers, research reports, photographs and posters/banners. On the non-print media is composed of audio-visual tapes and CDs.

The information contained in these formats cuts across and is mainly on the following areas:
- Human Rights
- Urban development issues
- Building Technologies
- Housing development
- Youth Issues
- Land and related issues
- Gender issues
- Water and sanitation
- Environment
- Governance
- Energy and related issues
- Human Settlements
- Transport
- Finance
The press cuttings are also done based on the above subject areas. They are from the local mainstream media - NATION Newspaper and the STANDARD. In addition, the resource centre has periodicals of whose composition are Shelter Forum Bulletins and Magazines published from various organizations that deal with issues in which Shelter Forum directly or indirectly engages in.
Research leads to generation of information. In order to facilitate reference; a copy of the captured information is also submitted to the resource centre. Alongside the research reports are project reports, proposals and annual event reports.
The audio-visual tapes are mainly documentaries on the activities that Shelter Forum engages in. These include environmental awareness campaigns, issues to deal with informal settlements, water and sanitation and housing. Also in the collection are CD-ROMs that also capture these major areas. |
