Shelter Forum was founded in 1990 as a coalition of eight like-minded individuals and organizations to facilitate sustainable access to affordable and decent shelter for all especially the vulnerable groups.Its work is based on the principle of deepening the participation of the slum dwellers in the formulation and implementation of policies in human settlements

Our strategic direction
Shelter Forum’s strategic goal is to promote equitable access to adequate, secure and sustainable housing and improve the quality of life of the urban poor. As part of its strategic approach, Shelter Forum will adopt and use a combination of partnerships, participatory and community driven service provision approaches, capacity building and appropriate building technologies. It will strive to be creative and innovative in its search for best solutions to the housing challenges.
